here at long last is the yamaha QT50 yamahopper kit! it's a 70cc 45.5mm cast iron kit. originally made for the yamaha STING SG50, this actually fits perfectly on yamahopper QT50, TRI ZINGER YT60, TOWNY MJ50 and i believe the PW50 as well. comes with everything pictured, cylinder, piston, ring, wrist pin, clips and gasket set.

grab a 50% crush gasket here!

get replacement ring here!

get a hi compression head here! If you want to use this head, be sure your spark plug is the correct model. this head uses short plugs like these. do not use the wrong plug length AND check and recheck your squish and the spacing before you run this head with this setup. or suffer the consequences. the stock head is totally usable on this setup as well, it is all in your hands, don't destroy your new kit. check everything out before you run it and destroy it. if you don't have a lot of experience with spacing things out use the stock head for now.

also probably a good idea to read this thread to get some more ideas on spacing and necessary modifications.

A YF60 customer writes in that they found success jetting their stock carb in the mid 90s with the needle on the middle clip.. so YF60 guys plan on having jets in the 90-100 range to START with.

For YT60, you'll need to bore the cases in order to get the cylinder to sit flush. You'll also need some shorter cylinder studs as the stock ones are too long with the new kit.

For the people looking at it for Pw50’s. It will work but you have to take a rubber mallet and wack it in. The fins touch the frame . Get as close to the case as you can then tighten it down with the studs, But in all works really great !

5 of 5 Excellent on my Towny MJ50J (Qt50) May 9, 2023

This kit is very quick. I’m running the 70cc kit, high compression head, stock carb, stock pipe, aftermarket intake, 100 main jet, and 40/1 fuel mixture. I’ve put around 10hours on this setup and have no issues so far. The cylinder walls look brand new and the plug hasn’t fouled once. The top speed hasn’t changed much from stock but it’s twice as quick.

This thing slid onto my qt50 like it was born to be.

With a clone carb, the mlm peoples exhaust and this kit, my little dude trains is getting a little over 40.

Slaps right on a Champ (LC50) with no modifications. You can even use the stock head.
