It could well be chrome, but it's duller than a vacuum cleaner convention. You can barely make out your reflection, as if had been sand blasted or something. It came without a plastic film on it. I won't put it on my ped, so I couldn't tell you if it fits well or not. Hopefully I can get a refund, otherwise it will be an emergency only spare.
