athena 70cc 45mm cylinder kit for all puch mopeds! this is the version that includes cylinder piston gaskets and a 15mm bing intake.  this is potentially one of the fastest of the puch 60cc to 70cc cylinders, with some minor mods of course. now, on to the more interesting chitter and chatter... for those lucky souls who are interested in truly gettin crazy we have special spacers in stock that allow you to use the malossi 4 petal reed cage as found on the peugeot 103 malossi case and gilardoni puch 74cc cylinder on this kit, yeah!!!!!  you might have to make a gasket or two, no deals with the devil though. totally usable with whatever bing carb you have if you don't feel quite like upgrading yet to the 15mm bing. For za50 2 speed engines you might have to grind a little on the oil injection housing to get the bing to fit perfecto.

5 of 5 The problem is the piston pin, not the clips June 6, 2018
taco eater : Puch lover from MOUNT-ROYAL, QC Canada
Check your piston pin and you will see as it is too long. You have to sand and reduce this pin with minimum 0.5 mm to acomodate the piston clips, overwise, one clips is not completly instaled. It is normal to go out in this condition. Why nobody have observe this? In mechanical, all it is about dimennsions and distances to wotk. To reduce the piston pin, I have use a dremel and a sand paper to corect this problem. After, the clip was entered and instaled proprely. Beautiful cylinder .

3 of 5 Jug too tall for 43mm puch stroke? February 15, 2016
taco eater : Anonymous Person from New England
How has nobody mentioned that this kit is way too tall for a puch? Did I get the wrong one?

Puch stroke = 43mm
bottom of exhaust port to top of this cylinder = 46mm

You're gonna have to deck the cylinder or get a countersunk head cut.

Also, there are apparently two pistons for this kit; one is taller than the other.
I received the taller of the two, so I had to build up the base (keep the rings out of the exhaust @ BDC, etc).

My stock cylinder studs were too short after I built up the bottom of the jug.

Instead of buying the alternate Athena piston, I bought the generic 45mm/70cc treat piston, as per reviews that suggested it for AJH. Allowed me to ditch the base spacer and use a thin base gasket, and still use my 106mm studs at least.

Getting a countersunk head cut this spring, maybe I'll finally see what this kit can really do...

4 of 5 Good but it needs atention April 23, 2014

As you know... these are moped parts, but they ain't always cheap if you still need to pay atention to them when you want to install such kits.

Ok it's O.K. ... some of ya love to play around and do something - ya self, but there are people that don't have the time or skill for such things.

This kit blasts quite nice even with AMAL 17... don't now for bing, but AMAL rocks for its 17 or 17,5 diameter.

My piston that came with such kit,.. had to much gap at the 2nd ring - could easily brake... but didn't cz I replaced it. -- $ $ $

5 of 5 Awesome kit if you do the prep. May 16, 2013

Super torque. 50 mph easy after gearing.

BUT, make sure you drop the reed block into the cylinder without a gasket to check if the screw heads hit. I had to dremel the sloped intake surface to make the reed screws and reed stops clear. Once the reed block sits flat, throw gaskets on it and assemble. BLAST.

Picked the kit up 2 months ago. Hundreds of miles later i'm still blasting away. Ripped hard even with the 15mm bing! Ditch those silly metal reeds cause they will make your nice new athena kit into a paper weight. Pick up some Boyesen reeds. This kit is called the mini gila for a reason. Matched up with a 24mm Mikuni flatslide and you'll have people stopping you at lights asking "What the heck is that thing?!?" It's a moped sir, just a moped.
