gilardoni!!! 4 petal reed block kit. NOW WITH THE ORIGINAL GILARDONI HEAD!!!

totally customized by the magician Nate Keihn from motomatic mopeds..

some of these come with a 24mm intake, some come with a 19mm intake. this intake will not work on puch maxi or any minarelli due to the angle. plan on getting one like this or this.

pretty much the best kit for puch, and what ever other engine you can mod this onto like the minarelli V1 thank you soooooo very much motomatic we love youuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!

from the man himself, Nate..

so to put this kit on a v1 you have to open up the case for the piston skirt to clear but don't go too far into the transfer area or you will blow through, just match that area to the same angle of the existing transfers. if you have trouble getting the cylinder to go all the way down then you will need to oval out the stud holes on the cylinder a little, i just used a small dremel bit to widen out the stud pattern. you will also need some spacers if you use your original studs. I used some 7mm nuts with a washer on top. other than that it's a pretty straight forward cylinder install, overall I would say it is easier to put this on a v1 than it is to put it on a puch. both the piston and head are already modified on each kit to clear perfectly.

additional info: this kit is bolt on after case boring, use this kit with all gaskets that come with it including the head gasket. Everything has already been worked out including squish so do not modify anything that is part of the kit. there are no modifications needed to anything but the case. do not modify the kit or the included spacer.

this kit is for the standard transfers. as you can clearly see the spacer does not have a third transfer as motomatic made on their second version of this kit. if you want to create a top transfer you are on your own and this kit would require extensive modification so probably not a good idea.

Lots of grinding, take your time.  Like what Ryan said, it'll be worth your while if you have the piston near by for clearance checks.  You may want to massage the bottom of piston skirt corners as well (mine had some contact). TAKE YOUR TIME!  Squish measures out to ~1mm = sick.

You need to get clever with the intake. Any of the cast aluminum manifolds + some mandrel bent 6061 + some TIG time + a dremel will get you where you wanna be. Step through Minarelli bikes will likely need a custom manifold like this since the frame tube gets close, especially if you're keeping the running boards.

You CAN use your flywheel fan if you carefully shave down the OD and hack up the fan cover. I did this and it's actually functional.

The conventional 3.4:1 gear ratio can be stretched a little (currently 11x36 on 17" wheels). Torque.

A lot of little headaches here and there, but it's worth it. No Polini or other conventional V1 kit comes close this powerhouse.

yeah pretty cool.  really takes a lot of dremeling to get the piston to clear.  I suggest putting your crankshaft bearings in the case and then installing the crankshaft, one side at a time with the piston installed.  test for piston clearance, with both case halves.  if you're good you're good if you're not... get back to dremeling.  it'd suck to put the case together and your piston didn't clear, wouldn't it?  definitely need to dremel/drill out the head, cylinder and head gasket in order to put it on.  haven't fired mine up yet as i'm still waiting on a pipe and intake but so far, fits great.

5 of 5 Best V1 mod October 25, 2013

Nate hooked this up on my V1 Many years ago and it's still going strong. The adapter plate was custom made for my bike. Your purchased parts may differ. The piston clearance is close so do be careful and follow the tips above. My crankshaft failed on a long trip at one point and I took that chance to take some pics of how mine was modified. Check it here. http://motomaticmopeds.com/blog/?p=661
And check your compression!

EDITED: Please inspect your parts for fit before Drilling holes in your kit.

3 of 5 Good, if you don't want to add the third transfer October 25, 2013

So, according to Raftner, and the photos on his blog, he had to have an o-ring groove cut into the head to lower compression. Before he did that he was overheating before 30mph. Secondly he added a third transfer to the top of the cylinder, and cut a channel through the adapter plate into the cases.

The adapter plate that comes with this kit is much smaller than the plate Raftner used. It doesn't cover the same space, and leaves the space for the top transfer uncovered. With the parts supplied, you cannot make the same kit that you see on the MMM blog... At least you didn't have to spend $300 to find out.

These kits need a new adapter plate. One thats the right size. :-/
