Just like the other review said, the engagement lever doesn't fit into the sproket properly so it will start clicking and slip just like my old one did.  The stock dust cap doesn't fit and it doesn't come with one.  Also when I free spun it on my crank it is out of round - wiggles side to side which would cause serious vibration when driving.  Also this part would need to be filed down in some way because it is too wide, when you put it on, there is not enough room for the thrust washer to fit and let you still snap the retaining clip in.  I'm not going to use this on my bike.  I'm going to try one of the race parts like the Doppler.  I will miss having the pedal option because it's nice to have incase you break down.

- Plastic pedal engagement switch doesn't click shut like stock, so it comes undone easily after a few rotations. Slips like crazy and will ruin your sprocket.
- Stock dust cover doesn't fit, and it doesn't come with one.

Not a great buy, wish it was better because it would be nice to have a straight shiny pulley.

3 of 5 av89 Pulley problems May 26, 2013

I bought 2 of these pulleys and both had the same problem. The mechanism, namely the engagement lever fails to fit into the sprocket fully. What happens is it starts to slip and quickly wears the edges of the lever dogs. The way to get around this is to bend the lever so it fits better into the sprocket and also to pack the lever out on the shouldered bolt with 3 or 4 flat washers, I did all this but like i said most of damage had already been done by the slipping and my repairs only lasted 40 or so miles. This was great while it lasted as its smaller diameter than  the original AV89 pulley and gears the bike up. I reckon my cruising speed with this pulley is ~ 40 mph and top end is 55+ mph, silly fast for a 40 year old moped :))
