I was running the stock head, no head gasket, polini kit, 19mm polini cp carb on my race bike. With 19/42 gearing and 24" wheels, it topped out at 58mph.
Got this head, had to cut a whole corner off the fins for my carb. No worries about that. The description is right about mounting it. You need a head gasket and index washers or your Piston will hit. Again, no worries.
Had to use long 6mm coupler nuts with 1/4" drilled out because the threads on the studs aren't long enough. You could use a couple washers, too. And the nuts almost hit the fins, so I had to grind down a socket so it was thin enough to get it in there.
Fired it up and could instantly tell it wasn't as snappy as the stock head. Hit 44mph on a few test runs (using radar gun.)
Checked everything, re-torqued it, tried again. Hit 45.
Put the stock head back on, speeds back up in the upper 50s.
Waste of time and money, unless you need a fancy paperweight.
