I nominate this for best bang for you buck mod on a stock MB5. As I understand, this is a repro of the MB80 carb (stock 18mm keihin). It’s a fantastic upgrade for the MB5 though, I can definitely feel a noticeable power boost throughout the rpm range, and am even maintaining speed up hills in 5th gear that always used to challenge me. The unnumbered main jet it comes with was way too small, it looks like a 100, I’m currently running a 120. I opted for this over the VM18/VM20 cause the mounts are the same size as the stock carb mounts, so you don’t have to further disturb a stock setup by replacing the intake manifold/airbox boot, it’s a direct swap. Other positives – a removable pilot jet (stock is pressed in) and an adjustable float.
