5 of 5 Awesome and stupid easy upgrade for any puch maxi Monday, October 5, 2020
taco eater : Max Pettus from Amherst, NH United States
This part is great. Haven’t gone on a long test ride yet so I don’t know the full quality of the condenser but I heard that if you go to autozone and get a 1979 Chevy nova 4 cylinder condenser it will replace the stock one and work perfectly. In terms of the installation process, it was phenomenal! It took my brother and I 20 mins to replace the stock stator with this and get the bike running (puch maxi s 2hp). This part went on with no fusses and upon the first test we had spark. So we put the spark plug in and bam! She fired right up. In conclusion, get this part and you won’t be disappointed.

4 of 5 Great, but you MUST prep Sunday, September 8, 2019
taco eater : Goshen Mopeds from goshen, IN United States
Ok. So these are pretty dang good, but there's a few things you need to know. First, it seems no one lubricates the points wick anymore. I don't know if people just think it's for show or what but you need to get a lubricant on your wick or its just going to wear out the points bump real fast. Second, these have about a 50% fail rate of the condensers. Get a bosch or one from a stihl chainsaw. And lastly, the points screw isn't too tight from the factory and can still float when at high rpm. If you get a backfire, that's what happened. Set the points with some thread locker and make sure you set them correctly, then tighten them down like crazy and let the locker cure before use. If you do all of these things, you will never ever ever have to mess with this part of your bike again. Ever.

If ya use the original flywheel for a batavus m48 with this stator its a direct swaparooni. I had one layin around and tried it on a whim after the stock stator pooped the bed. Works gr8 now!

3 of 5 Great ignition coil... points, not so much. Monday, January 22, 2018
taco eater : Kenneth Hill from Arnold, MD United States
I bought this to use on a Sachs 505A (Columbia). It took a good bit of dremmel and very small point gap work to get the stator close to the proper position for timing. Timing was "ok" at idle, but jumped all over  when RPMs were added. I replaced the points with BOSCH and problem solved.  The 12v light coill seems ok, but I'd question the watts it delivers. Even using the stock wattage bulbs, they have a significant dimming effect on each other. My advise, just buy the ignition coil and use your original stator etc.

3 of 5 simple, cheap Tuesday, January 10, 2017
taco eater : Aaron Fowler from Richmond, VA United States
On My Sachs, after less than 200 miles the plastic bumper on the points, which rides on the inside of the flywheel (cam), wore down enough that my points would no longer open....twice... though the second time i was prepared to reset the point gap in the middle of a rally.

i put this on a Sachs 505D stock engine n sprockets with aftermarket pipe n carb n intake. i recently replaced the flywheel, the old one had a rough points cam. problem solved.

the other one i bought and install on my Puch Magnum barely survived a rally before frying.

5 of 5 So far so good on my e50 Wednesday, April 15, 2015
taco eater : Dean Hopkins from Brooklyn, NY United States
About a week and 100 miles so far and she feels peppier and I even idle better.  We'll see how well it does once summer hits.  If it stays working, this thing will be an amazing upgrade.  I love the simplicity of the two wire system.  Black to your kill switch, and yellow is 12V.  Screw on your old plug cap and away you go!  http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/read.php?1,3834512

1 of 5 Failed on my first long test ride Thursday, March 27, 2014
taco eater : Mike from Fort Collins, CO United States
I got this stator and installed it, and re-wired all my lights to work. I did about 7 or 8 test rides, and it was running really strong.

However, on my first long test ride (4 miles), my bike started misfiring like crazy. I had to walk my bike home which sucked.

When I got home, I started it and it barely idled, and I could see the points were arcing. I replaced the condenser with the Effe condenser, but it still misfired like crazy.

I guess the internal coil failed.

Benji came through for me though. Love treats customer service!

5 of 5 great for tomos too! Thursday, March 20, 2014
taco eater : Josh Hickman from Goshen, IN United States
Use a puch flywheel, and its a straight bolt on for a tomos and REALLY cleans things up a LOT! Perfect!
