5 of 5 So far it looks pretty good. Should fit on the fre Tuesday, November 25, 2025
taco eater : James Gannon from Waterville, ME United States
The only thing I'm not seeing is gasket for the intake. You would think they would come with a gasket the gasket would have been nice I guess you have to order that separately. Should have researched that more carefully

4 of 5 Replaces Free Spirit (Silver) Deluxe Intake Wednesday, April 17, 2024
taco eater : Kelikaku from HERMOSA BEACH, CA United States
Good replacement for original intake on Sears Silver Free Spirit (the 'Deluxe'). My original had an epoxy like residue inside, assuming it was left after the restrictor was taken out.

Took off one star, for the price it could have been given a quick little  polish, at least on the outside, especially on the inside. It does have a bead blasted rough finish with an etched logo.

Seems to be a bolt on replacement for the original with nearly identical features, except much better quality. Recommended.

5 of 5 Good fit Wednesday, July 26, 2023

Perfect fit on my 77 maxi with a 15mm Bing. The ports don't match perfect but it still works well.

1 of 5 Don’t line up Sunday, July 16, 2023
taco eater : Miss my great grandpa from newbury, MA United States
Same as the comments below.  The new ones don’t line up for the stock airbox and vstack.  The great grandpa works perfectly.  I thought about drilling the holes a bit so i coukd turn it more but haven’t yet…

2 of 5 Doesn't fit Puch Magnum XK- E50 engine Sunday, June 11, 2023
taco eater : Johnymatic from Las Vegas, NV United States
Very nice part, I was stoked to get #1 gramps installed with my monster ass 15mm bing. My dreams were dashed to pieces as I realized it just wont fit. stock intake bolt holes are slotted and use the innermost slots to bolt up. #1 gramp isn't slotted and the bolts are too wide apart to bolt up. Also i didn't realize how much of a port mismatch this new intake will have, the new one has a big port which will be shrouded by the stock cylinder quite alot. I'm still keeping it, one day i'll pull the cylinder off to port match and slot the holes. And that the way the news goes.

1 of 5 The NEW BATCH that has "12" on them do not work Monday, May 1, 2023
taco eater : Valley Vintage Motorworks from Monaca, PA United States
The original "Old Grandpas" were awesome.  These new 'run' of intakes do not line up.  They do not work well at all.  Use something else until the iron this one out.

2 of 5 New batch fits like ass Tuesday, January 3, 2023
taco eater : Goshen Mopeds from Goshen, IN United States
These new ones that say "12" on the side are off angle, so you can't fit a stock air box, velocity stack, and if you try to put a high flow filter it squishes it to hell and makes them about as useful as a cork. So far all 6 maxi I've used them on have the same issue so it's not a fluke and switching to a stock 14 solves the problem soooooo.... let treats sort this one out before buying one.

5 of 5 You can't go wrong with Grandpa Friday, July 23, 2021
taco eater : Thomas Peffer from Lakewood, OH United States
Spent the extra $7.99 per treatland's advice and yes this intake is waaaaaayyy better! Rocking this intake with a genuine 15mm Bing, 70cc treats PP kit, tecno circuit pipe and 15/45 gearing on an e50 Newport. Bike rockets to 40 mph before the pipe tops out. The flow characteristics of the #1 grandpa is excellent with a nice smooth airflow transistion from carb venturi to cylinder intake. Grandpa is going to live with me forever
