MLM presents a beautiful steel variator guard for honda hobbit, pa50, camino, etc!! so rad

perfect for dirt peds n racers that run the high chance of taking a spill! this lil guy will prevent you from bending or even breaking your crankshaft and variator in the even of a crash. also, if you are running a notched 3 roller variator, this will protect you from shredding up your ankle or calf! we like to play it safe here at treatland!

this guard attaches to the subframe with the three included m8 countersunk allen bolts!

***note if you are running a proma circuit pipe that mounts on the bottom m8 engine bolts, you may have to file the bottom post of the brace down slightly to achieve enough clearance for it to sit on top of the proma mounting tab. make sense?***

of course, this is finished in high gloss black powder coat! very sharp lookin

5 of 5 Works on stock subframe June 5, 2022

I was worried it wouldn't work with the stock subframe but bolted up perfectly and now my little leg is safe from my TJT. Stoked on this part really wish it was aluminum cause its heavy af.

4 of 5 super cool if your plan is to set it and forget it December 27, 2020

I purchased this to save my toes from being eaten by the TJT variator! With the Proma pipe set up I added a washer to the top and side screws to compensate for the tab on the Proma pipe. Works great except for the fact that I needed the pedal crank extender thingy so the pedal arm would clear the guard! (not because of the washers/Proma pipe mounting tab) MLM should offer one in this kit, one that is about half the length of the one that is sold here so the pedal doesn't stick way out. Also, a major improvement to this guard would be instead of using long screws or bolts, make the plate separate from the tubes, turn the tubes into studs so that they can be mounted to the engine/sub frame then have the plate bolt or screw into the ends of the studs! Then its super easy to remove only the plate to tune/service the whole variator/bell assembly. So, similar in design as the contra brace dealio. This would make it a 6 or 7 taco maybe even a 10 taco rated part if it was aluminum!

4 of 5 Doesnt clear pedals - need spacer March 12, 2018
taco eater : Eames from Tustin, CA United States
Very well made. Bolts are the same thread as the stock ones.

It just barely doesn't clear my pedals as is so i just needed a spacer for my pedal shaft and reduced the spacer on the sprocket side.  clearance is now SUPER tight but it passes it makes the variator side look 1000x better.

now we just need something for the chain side please MLM.
