Waaaay better than the stock pad, just buy it. Use a flathead screwdriver and a pair of channel locks to get that spring off and on again.

Much wider than the stock shoe. Much better. Skidding to stop every time. Be sure to clean up the drum.
The spring is a real pain in the dick to get off/on. I find it helped to bend the hook on the shoe end of the spring just a hair so it comes out more easily. It's a fatty skookum spring.
Freewheels come off lefty-loosey - 36mm wrench Kickstart Nut is lefty-tighty - 22mm Wrench.

fits well, more surface area than stock, and will stop you on a dime, provided your linings and tyres are good
