Did you say...Magnet based generator?  What other kinds are there?  Call the Hoover Dam 'cause they'd like to get rid of their magnet-based generators.

But Wait:  Do you mean this is what we refer to as an ALTERNATOR these days (like since the mid-60s?)

Hmmm, so does changing from DC to AC have any negative effects on my mope?  What is NOT going to work right when/if I shell out for this?

5 of 5 Fits 504 case...! July 14, 2014

Got one awhile back. Never ran it but it fits perfectly in a 504's case; it uses the smaller magneto. I needed cash so had to return it but hope to pick up another one in the near future.

Also, the unit is best suited for a stock to mild street build as the cdi box has no curve or much performance tuning. But the spark and lights are wicked.

5 of 5 like the other review: works on Derbi January 25, 2012

I installed this on my Derbi Variant and it is perfect. Used a dremel on two stator backplate screw mounts. Once the backplate is centered, dry fit the stator and flywheel to make sure you have perfect spinning. I placed my red dot/fire mark up so the wires could pass through the normal area. Once at top dead center, position the piston 2mm BTDC (clockwise) and line up flywheel and stator firing marks. Tighten that nut down first by holding the flywheel, then by piston stop and torquing down to 25-30 foot lbs and you should be set.

red-red, white-white, blue to kill switch (which is green wire on derbi) two black wires from stator go into far left and right terminals of regulator. Middle terminal is power out to everything. Red = headlight/running light. I ran a power wire up to a brake light switch and to the brake light (blue wire) I had to use the reverse tomos brake light switch though. Planning on going LED lights crazy soon.

Sure it's expensive as hell. Ya know what? It's fucking worth it. This is the best moped part I've ever had. I have it on my derbi (all you need to do to mount it is drill some holes in the stator) and I blind people with my awesome lights. Also starts super easy- it's just hands down the best ignition system for normal street use.
