Exhaust port problem? |

This kit is actually designed and sold by Metrakit for the Puch "Condor" which we don't have over here on this side of the "Pond". I used it in another Derbi piston-ported project and it seized up just below the exhaust port . I was using known-good carburation, exhaust, timing, extra break-in oil, etc. Upon disassembly-inspection the problem was very likely due to not having a "bridge' across the huge and (TOO?)WIDE exhaust port. I believe that the rings DID NOT have enough "support" and would "grow" into the port and cause the problem but I can't swear to it. I've been doing this stuff for 15 years now but, hey, I'm still learning! Anyone else have this problem?

Current Setup w/ MK80BP: 19 PHBG 90 main Estoril pipe 17x45 gearing
Still breaking the kit in, but so far there is no hill I can't destroy.
Exhaust mount surface is a bit uneven, but the big crush gasket makes up for it. Making room for the cylinder in the case is a lot of work like any other 70+ kit, and to do the port matching, some material will need to be added, or you can simply not match 100% like I did.
