Do not tap your threads like the guy below me mentioned. A tap cuts the threads and will only make the stud fit loss. What you need is a thread chaser not a tap!

You need a few extra things to use these-4xwashers and 4xnuts. DUHHH! - clean the damn stud holes in the case. Do so by using compressed air AND Brake Kleen (or similar solvent like pure gas, degreaser, etc). - freshen-up the case threads with a M6x1.00 tap. Go Slow and steady with the tap. use lithium grease, Tap Magic, or 4-In-1 - REPEAT FIRST STEP - torque studs into case to 6-7 lbs/ft. Using either two nuts or stud installer - put top end on - torque nuts down to 7-8.5 lbs/ft Or ignore this and do what you want. Just have fun.

I put these studly MF'ers on my m48. I think they are slightly shorter than stock by like a millimeter. Worked just fine. Didn't strip them yet at least.
